Party: Non-partisan Seat

Commissioner Williams was born in Winchester, Virginia. He first arrived in Manatee County as a child and is a proud 4th-generation resident. 

He and his wife Patricia have been married for 43 years, have two children and a 12 year-old grandchild.

Williams has served on the Palmetto City Commission since 1992 and has served as Vice-Mayor of the Commission for five of those years.

He holds an Associate of Arts in Business and served in the United States Air Force for four and a half years. He is a Vietnam Veteran.

Williams is a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, past VP of Manatee County Children Services Board and a lifetime member of the Palmetto Historical Society.

Prior to his election to the city commission, he served on the city's code enforcement board, and has served as director on the Manatee River Fair Association Board.

Williams says he finds pride in helping people with government-related issues and helping to find solutions. He says he knows the job, and because of his experience with it, knows how to best serve the residents of Palmetto.

Williams says he is most proud of his efforts to preserve the historical district of Palmetto while staying focused on balanced growth.

"The residents of Palmetto need someone who will keep the city's future first and foremost at the top of their list," Williams says. "We have accomplished some great things in recent years with the CRA."

"I want to keep taxes down and the quality of life up to the highest level," Williams added. "I want to make this happen."

Williams faces Eric Gilbert and John Geeslin in the November 4 race.
