Councilman Byrd Named Chairman of CRA

BRADENTON – Ward 5 City Councilman Harold Byrd has been named the first Chairman of the Bradenton Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).

City Council members, acting as board members of the newly-formed Bradenton CRA, voted 4-0 in favor of Councilman Bemis Smith's nomination of Councilman Byrd as Chairman during a meeting on April 13.

The Bradenton Community Redevelopment Agency is the governing
body that oversees the City's three community redevelopment districts in January; Council members are also CRA board members.

Councilman Byrd has served as Ward 5's representative since 2007 after previously serving on the City Council from 1989-1996.

Last fall Councilman Byrd earned his designation as a FRA-Redevelopment Professional by successfully completing the course requirements set forth by the Florida Redevelopment Association.
