Giving Hunger the Blues Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Multiple Events

SARASOTA – Giving Hunger the Blues will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year with a full slate of events in addition to the annual all day festival. From a rockfest at Kelly’s Live, to a Halloween costume/CD release party, to the cool Jazz stylings of the Michael Ross Quartet, GHTB is making October about music.
The signature event, GHTB20, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30, at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, from noon to 9 p.m., rain or shine. GHTB20 will feature live music on three stages.
Headlining the event will be transplanted Chicago bluesman RJ Howson. Also performing will be local favorites Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio, the Gumbo Boogie Band, Reverend Barry & Funktastic Soul featuring the Hellacious Horns, Jah Movement, Ari & the Alibis and Fogt’s Music All Stars. There will also be a kids and family area, trick or treating for the kids, games, prizes, and a host of food, and arts and crafts vendors.
Twinkle
All proceeds will benefit the Women’s Resource Center and the Mayors’ Feed the Hungry program, an all-volunteer organization, that has distributed more than 1.2 million pounds of food in Sarasota and Manatee counties since 1987.
Tickets for GHTB20 are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate. VIP packages, including reserved parking and complimentary food and beverage, are $35. *All-event passes (does not include Belle Canto) are $85.

Featuring: From Darkness Arise; Klegg; Chronologic; Frostfang; Jack Mantra; Cruel Curses, and Drastic Fall. Tickets: $5 advance; $10 at the door or $5 w/donation of non-perishable food items.

October 29 - Giving Hunger the Boos Halloween costume/CD release party 8:30 PM – 1 AM. The Francis, 1289 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota. Spotlighting Rev. Barry & Funktastic Soul ft. the Hellacious Horns. Tickets: $25 advance; $30 at the door. VIP packages w/reserved seating $65 advance; $75 at the door. Copy of Rev. Barry’s newest CD with admission; $500 cash best costume prize.
Belle Canto Benefit Concert
