Long Bar Pointe: Beruff Buys Remaining Legends Bay Lots

Posted
BRADENTON – Medallion Homes CEO Carlos Beruff has picked up the remaining 82 lots at Legends Bay, an upscale development in southeast Manatee County that abuts his Long Bar Pointe project. The sale, which was recorded on December 30, was for $10.9 million according to Manatee County property records.

Beruff has been involved in several controversies at both sites. In November, the county issued a stop work order, when residents of Legends Bay complained that site clearing for Long Bar Pointe had illegally encroached on one of their preserves, as well as an easement owned by the county. The developer was later fined for failing to comply with the order.

There was also the matter of a mysterious disappearance of a bald eagle's nest in one of the green-spaces between the two developments, which is being investigated by both the county and FDEP. Beruff is currently seeking a controversial mitigation bank that would allow him to increase the intensity of the development of the environmentally-sensitive area. FDEP has issued a notice of intent to issue one, though it is being contested by environmental groups.
