COMMISSIONER AGENDA

CITIZEN COMMENTS (Consideration for Future Agenda)

COMMISSIONER COMMENTS –
Commissioner Bustle – "I request the board ask the County Administrator to find a good sound tech that can come into this room and fix whatever is wrong with the sound system."

Commissioner Smith – "I agree with what Commissioner Bustle said." Smith also said that that at the Public Safety meeting, members voted to support a countywide coordinated effort to return drivers licenses to those who can't afford the complete cost now required, or are unable to pay a fine a that is required for reinstatement of their license.

Commissioner Benac – said the next MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization) meeting is March 28 and will be at the Lakewood Ranch Town Hall at 9:30 a.m. Benac added that she asked the Chair of the Sarasota County Commission about a proposed Bi-County meeting at the Port of Manatee, and said she would report any news.

Commissioner DiSabatino – said she was glad the legislature didn't nix the $12 million for health care. Benac and Baugh were quick to say it was really the LIP (Low Income Pool) dollars that were taken away with Obamacare. DiSabatino also suggested the commission suggest to the school board that it might enhance some of the children's' experience if they got to field trip around and see how some of the county's businesses work. DiSabatino said "to do some job-shadowing might be a great experience."

Commissioner Whitmore – said she had some family in Brussels and that there was a network for checking in to see who is accounted for. Whitmore said the county should look at something like that, and that it could be a valuable tool for many reasons. Whitmore wanted one of the three commissioners who also sit on the MPO Board to ask about some short term solutions to the heavy traffic.
