COMMISSIONER AGENDA

35. Discussion of Children Services Advisory Board Last week, Commissioner DiSabatino asked County Administrator Ed Hunzeker to put the Children Services Advisory Board on Tuesday's agenda to discuss the dismissal of of Jennifer Radebach from her position on the board. Radebach was notified a couple of weeks back that she no longer held her position on the board; notification was from the administrator's office, not the commissioners that appointed her.

The other commissioners seemed to want the issue to go away quickly, but DiSabatino was angered to the way it all went down, and wasn't convinced Radebach actually had a conflict.

Radebach defended herself by citing the statute and then reflected on a dozen of others who were in direct conflicts of interest with the county. She stood by her position that she did not have a conflict of interest, but said she never had a chance to even address the issue.

Radebach was accused of having a conflict of interest because her organization, Children's Academy, receives funds from the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County, which receives some of its funding from the county.
