BRADENTON – Centerstone, a not-for-profit organization which provides mental health and addictions services, today announced that Edward G. Viltz has been named to its board of directors for a two-year term. Viltz will serve alongside 11 other Florida community and business leaders to support Centerstone’s mission and guide the organization’s operations and policies throughout the state.

Viltz brings over 35 years of years of experience at not-for-profit and corporate organizations to the Centerstone board. His career includes leadership and consulting positions at numerous not-for-profit organizations, education entities, and multi-disciplinary corporate environments including IBM and the Public Interest Registry. His not-for-profit experience encompasses educational policy, foster child care and community-based social services.

Viltz’s commitment to education led him to come out of retirement six years ago to become a classroom teacher and mentor and a member of the Horizons Academy School Advisory Council.

”Mental health challenges among the youth in Manatee County and surrounding areas are of major concern to me,“ said Viltz. ”I look forward to the opportunities we will have as a board to positively impact the lives of these young people, as well as others in our community.“
