Posted

Alma Haase, age 76, passed peacefully January 24, 2017.

Alma was born September 26th, 1940 to Herbert and Gladys (Gumm) Brandt in Benzonia Michigan. She was the last of 6 siblings.

Alma grew up on the farm on Forrester Rd., where she was born. She met a rebel, Richard Haase, whom she fell in love with and married on December 28,1963. They traveled the world while Dick was in the service and settled in Florida after Dick's retirement.

Alma was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Benzonia, MI where she and Dick were married.

While Alma & Dick were stationed in Alabama she became a fan of her Alabama Crimson Tide football team and if you came to her house during the season, you experienced her " Shrine" to the Tide and Bear Bryant. She was a member of Nick's Chicks. (Roll Tide) Alma was full of life, loved life and her family.

She made anyone who she came in contact with smile and feel better about their day. Her enjoymentof life was infectious. She loved the beach and spent many hours enjoying it, whether it was her beloved Crystal Lake, in Michigan, or the tide waters of Virginia. She was drawn to both coasts of Florida.

She cherished her time spent with her son Terry and her only grandson Carter. She spent many days watching him play ball. "Sweet Aunt Alma," as she was called by her numerous nephews and nieces, will be missed. Above all she was a true friend.

Alma is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard, her son, Terry (Tina) and grandson Carter, as well as many nephews, nieces and "outlaws" (as she so affectionately called them).

Inurnment services will be held on February 10, 2017 in Sarasota National Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held in Beulah Michigan this summer on her beloved Crystal Lake.

Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
