Congratulations Bill Knight on a fine career

The Bradenton Police Department would like to recognize Captain Bill Knight, who retired last week after 22 years serving the citizens of Bradenton.

Capt. Knight started his career in law enforcement in 1997 and joined BPD as a patrol officer in 2002. During the next two decades, he served as the 14th Street beat officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Narcotics Unit sergeant, Special Investigations Unit lieutenant, Honor Guard commander, executive commander of the SWAT Team, and executive commander of the Hostage Negotiations Team. Most recently, he served as the Patrol Division captain.

Capt. Knight earned numerous awards and accolades, including the Medal of Honor, Pride Award for Heroism, and Officer of the Year in 2009 and 2015. Congratulations, Captain Knight – and thank you for your leadership and service!
