Gary D. Risnear (Rizz), 83, of Palmetto, FL, formerly of Richmond, Ohio, succumbed to his battle with 6th Stage Kidney Disease on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was a member of Richmond Methodist Church and of Terra Ceia United Methodist Church in FL. Born May 4, 1940, in Toronto, OH, a son of the late Michael & Wilma (Householder) Risnear. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: Gerald Sr. & Ronnie, and step-son, Mark Tennant.
Rizz graduated from East Springfield High School in 1958. He served his country in the Army as a cryptographer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. He was an avid pool player, an Ohio State and Steeler fan, a member of Mingo Sportsmans Club, Richmond Historic Society, and the Moose Lodge. He was privileged to complete his bucket list by traveling to 48 states. He retired from TIMET (Titanium Metals) in Toronto, OH, with 38 years of service.
Rizz is survived by the love of his life of 33 years, Susan (Call) Risnear; children: Robert (Kim) of Hopkinsville, KY; William and partner, Donna Munoz of Harlem, GA; Patty Virtue and fiancé, Rod Vein of Richmond, OH; and Melinda (Jason) Hassan of Bethesda, OH; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Gravesite service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241, on Wednesday, November 1, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Terra Ceia United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 141, Terra Ceia, FL 34250-0141.
