Animatronics STEM Program Now Available at Two District Middle Schools

Posted
BRADENTON – The School District of Manatee County will celebrate the grand opening of a unique and specialized STEM program now being offered at two district schools: Sugg Middle School and Nolan Middle School.

The program, known as Garner Holt Education Through Imagination, is an animatronic program that allows students to use hands-on and minds-on learning to create an animatronic show by use of many creative processes while working as a team toward a united goal.
The program uses a lab which is an Animaker space for the students to discover how they can expand their imagination to new heights. The Animaker design process includes the same series of steps that the Garner Holt Productions technicians and artisans follow to bring their creations to life!
The program features S.P.A.R.K-E, which is a Specialized Programmable Animatronic and Robotics Kit for Education.

Students work in teams to create amazing animatronic shows by programming independently controlled motors, script writing, voice acting, lighting and sound, set design, costuming, prop making and more.
Students discover their interests, talents, and passions, all while practicing authentic 21st Century Skills that will transfer to many successful careers in STEM and animatronic performance.

Manatee School District is hosting an invitation-only grand opening this week at Nolan Middle School. The celebration event will include special guests Garner Holt and his educational team from California, school district representatives, dignitaries from Manatee County, the creative teams from Sugg and Nolan Middle Schools as well as students who are in the inaugural program this year.
