As a participant in Downtown by Design, the citizen-driven visioning process back in 2007 from which emerged Bradenton’s Master Plan, it is exciting to see the process that has now culminated into this momentous time.
We are hopeful that the upcoming negotiations will help us focus on the redevelopment potential in the downtown core and to enhance the Riverfront as a beautiful, livable, walkable, higher density, mixed-use place that’s an asset to the entire community and region.
Also, this Friday, eat, drink, and be Irish and join us on Old Main Street for Main Street Live.

Barbara Elliott MAR 21, 2023 • Kochner, you council people DON'T listen. Issues are not citizen driven. It's the opposite. COB goes out of their way to exclude us by skirting and preventing open meetings law. We'll see.....

MAR 17, 2023 • Dear Norma, The COB (SOB) have already forgotten the citizens east and westside. Every thing is for developers benefit. That's why we have less parks in the COB than in 1997, the widening of 59th St. for Beruff residents, and in East Bradenton whole neighborhoods are neglected until they are torn down by code enforcement for developers to redevelop. An example is Bradenton Village. Twenty years after building it the complex is ready for teardown. The county parking garage ready for teardown too. What about the old jail next to courthouse. It was built and only in use a few years? What's up with that? Twenty years after building COB city hall it is rotten and ready for teardown and redevelopment. All those fancy apts along the river downtown are about ten years old, some are older. All built by same developer. That means in another ten years or less guess what? Yup. Just like serving your country by military service, each citizen must enlist their private talents to beat back corruption. For now developers are focused on developing every acre and lot near any body of water. That's why Tallant, Glazier Gates and Rossi Park have been developed into unaffordable housing. Fifty+acres of parkland dredged from the Manatee River have been lost to private development. We are left with a sidewalk park along the seawall (we already had that) Most residents in Manatee and COB residents cannot enjoy Riverwalk thanks to traffic and parking. Like the beach situation. The only way to stop the corruption is to find laws officials violate, report to appropriate agencies, and hope justice is won. Voting alone will not stop the developer takeover of our land and lives.

MAR 15, 2023 • When current city hall becomes a 16 floor condo and the old city hall property does as well (if KVO gets his way) traffic will be so bad absolutely NO one will want to come downtown. They wouldn't be able to if they wanted!! Developers will be happy then and clearly that's what matters anymore.

MAR 15, 2023 • downtown Bradenton is very nice and lots of money is invested there. but here in northwest bradenton, what we are getting is oversized gas stations and Targets and very mediocre dining fare for the most part. Please spend time thinking about how to preserve this lovely part of Bradenton and keep it from becoming a stopping off point for beach-goers to gas up or pick up things to wear or eat. Manatee is becoming an eyesore, like Cortez. Please do not neglect the other parts of Bradenton.
