Gregg A. McKay, of Bradenton, Florida, formerly of Hopatcong, NJ, and Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 9, 2023.
Born in Denville, New Jersey, Gregg was raised in Hopatcong and graduated from Hopatcong High School in 1977. Gregg would eventually become a mortgage broker and was employed with Parkway Mortgage Inc., until 2001.
Gregg was a golf viewer and diehard New York Yankees fan but his true passion and sport was NASCAR, which he followed every Sunday. Following his retirement from Parkway Mortgage, Gregg and Barbara found themselves relocated in Charlotte, NC, and it didn't take long for Gregg to work at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Gregg enjoyed working at the Hall of Fame, being able to meet some of the drivers, and share his experiences with other passionate fans. His time in Florida was spent sitting out on the porch, listening to his favorite music, and enjoying a cup of lobster bisque from Anna Maria Oyster Bar.
Gregg is predeceased by his loving wife, Barbara McKay (nee McDonald) and his father, Andrew. He is survived by his son, Ryan McKay and his wife, Lisa of Rockaway, NJ; daughter, Erin McKay of Charlotte, NC; mother, Marie McKay of Bradenton, FL; sister, Debra Curtis (nee McKay) of Bradenton, FL; brother, William "Bill" McKay and his wife, Darcie of Indian Land, SC. He was the proud grandfather to James and Kaylee McKay and to the many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no local Services at this time. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
