Janet Caroline "Jan" Dietz, 90, passed away on January 17, 2023, after a short illness.

She was born in Asbury Park, NJ on August 9, 1932. Jan wintered in Bradenton, FL from Toms River, NJ for 5 years and became a permanent Bradenton, Florida resident in 1997. She worked as a telephone switchboard operator as a teenager. Jan was a secretary at the Brooklawn Jr. High School Library in Parsippany, NJ while raising her children. She later volunteered at other school libraries in different states where she lived. Jan knitted knockers for breast cancer survivors, sewed shirts for veteran amputees and volunteered for F.E.L.T., an organization that packs and delivers meals to food-deprived children in Manatee County, FL.

Jan loved to give of her time and talents wherever she was needed. She was an amazing person with an infectious laugh and she was loved by all who knew her.Jan was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

She married her beloved husband, Norbert F. Dietz, on April 13, 1952, and they were together for 63 years before she lost him to cancer in 2015. Jan was also predeceased by her parents, Willis and Mildred (Lawrence) Rose; her daughter-in-law, Lee Anne Dietz; her brother-in-law, Donald Dietz and her sister-in-law, Jean Rose.

Janet is survived by her three sons and daughter, Keith (Jill) Dietz of Allen, TX, Gary (Jackie) Dietz of Temecula, CA, Sheryl (Dale) Ratchenski of Hamilton, ND and Jim Dietz of N. Richland Hills, TX; brother, Willis Rose; sister-in-law, Pat Dietz; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, Joe Dietz (son-Nate) and Danica Dietz (daughter-Virginia); Justin (Hope) Dietz (daughter-Harper), Sarah (Rick) Stone (sons-Julian and Cannon and daughter-Samantha), and Patrick (Justine) Dietz; Luke (Raichl) Ratchenski (daughters-Emma and Evie and son-Eli) and Tess (Alec) Johnson and Christopher Jimenez, Stefanie Dietz and Steven Dietz.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Faith United Methodist Church, 7215 1st Ave. W. in Bradenton. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 2504 34th Ave. West, Bradenton, FL 34205.
