Posted
Madonna Kay Macy Sullivan, 78, of Ellenton Florida, formerly of Bradenton and Mattoon Illinois, ran into the arms of our Savior on Sunday, July 24, 2022.

Madonna, or as many of you may know her as Donna, Grammy, Mo, mom, or sister, was born April 5, 1944, in Mattoon Illinois, to Omer Compton Macy and Thelma Aleen Gardner Macy. She was one of two children. Her sister Judy is and will always be, not only her sister but her best friend. She was a graduate of Mattoon High School in 1962 and then went on to attend Eastern Illinois University for two years. She devoted her entire life to raising her children and did it with strength, grace, and an incredible amount of integrity. Her lifelong dream was to complete her college degree. After many years of dedication, while working full-time at a local dermatology office during the day and attending classes at night, she achieved her dream in December 1990. She was an extremely proud graduate of the University of South Florida. (Go Bulls!) Her focus of study was social work, and she put it to practice later in life by becoming a counselor with Manatee Glens. There, she touched the lives of many and counseled her clients with love and dignity. After retiring in the early 2000s she became a full-time Grammy, which was the role God truly intended her to have. She was able to live with daughter and her family for the past twenty years, which was a blessing not only to her but especially for each of them.

She is survived by her sister Judith Elaine Macy Tuhy and her husband Ronald. Her daughter Rachel Sullivan Kendzior, her husband John and their three children, Macy, Caden and Sadie. Her son Gregory, his wife Susanne and their children Chase and Lucy. Her son Scott, his wife Marla and their four children, Catherine, Christian, Caitlyn and Caelen and their five grandchildren.

She has been a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bradenton since 1983 and was very active there for many years. Her Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Christ Episcopal Church. The family will host a reception in the parish hall following the service. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel, 604 43rd Street West Bradenton, FL 34209, is in charge of the arrangements.
