Manatee County Tax Collector to Reopen to Public

Posted
BRADENTON – Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Manatee County Tax Collector plans to reopen to the public by appointment only on Monday at the DeSoto Office, 819 301 Blvd W., Bradenton. Full-service driver licenses including road skills testing will be offered by appointment only at the Driver License Office (DLO), 904 301 Blvd W, Bradenton. Appointments may be scheduled at taxcollector.com.

"Following CDC guidelines to mitigate COVID-19, our staff has been working internally processing mail and online payments, title-work, registration renewals, and providing information over the phone for the past month,“ said Tax Collector Ken Burton, Jr. "Taking our direction from the President and Governor, we are opening to the public in a roll-out fashion; first by opening our largest offices, DeSoto and DLO, to handle more customers using social distancing, and eventually restoring service to the other branches.“

There are new protocols in place for the safety of both customers and staff. Customers are requested to remain in their vehicles until their scheduled appointment time. Only customers who have made an appointment will be served. Only Manatee County residents/businesses will be served. Only the customer required to complete the transaction will be allowed inside the building (no additional persons/family can accompany them).

Customers will be advised not to enter if they are ill or have a temperature; and temperature screening may be utilized. Masks/face coverings must be worn by the customer to enter. For further protection, Plexiglas partitions have been installed at each work station and reception desk.

"I want to thank Manatee County residents for doing business with us on taxcollector.com while we’ve been unable to open the offices,“ said Burton. "Our payment processing team has had record days during this time, met their turn-around times every day, and our contact center has responded to thousands of calls and emails. We hope our customers appreciate how safe, convenient and efficient online transactions are and will continue to use our website.“

Appointments and many transactions can be made on the Tax Collector’s website.
