Rep. Corrine Brown to Be Indicted On Public Corruption Charges

Federal charges of public corruption are reportedly set for North Florida-based U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown, who returned to Jacksonville Thursday night for her indictment.

The charges follow an ethics probe which was announced to have reached its conclusion this week. The investigation involved the Democratic Congresswoman's affiliation with a Virginia group called "One Door for Education," which did not follow law that says organizations purporting to be non-profit must register as such.

Earlier this year, charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud led to a guilty plea by the group's president, Carla Wiley. Rep. Brown is alleged to have received funds that were raised by the group. In March, it was revealed that she was under the Department of Justice's microscope for alleged fraudulent activities.

Brown is currently running for reelection in Florida's 5th Congressional District. Her opponent is Democrat and former state senator Al Lawson.
