BRADENTON – The
Manatee Education Foundation passed out grants to 400 teachers in the
school district Thursday during the organization's Ready for School Rally Reception at Renaissance on 9th. The grants will go toward those teachers' educational projects for students.
The district reported that the grants total more than $120,000 for 52 schools, and went to STEM; Arts & Culture; Environment; Literacy; Disadvantages and At-Risk Youth; and Teacher Development.
In addition to giving funds to teachers for their classrooms, the reception featured community and district leadership to help celebrate the event, and live music from the Manatee High Fiddlers.
In a statement, Mary Glass, Exec. Director of MEF, said, ”This year the Ready for School Rally was moved to a little later in the year and will be more of a reception for our teachers to mingle & meet the sponsors. We gave the teachers more time to apply and get organized for the year. It’s heart-warming to see our business partners step-up and support education in such a big way.“
