Andres Perez Named BPD Officer of the Month

BRADENTON – Officer Andres Perez has been selected to receive the Bradenton Police Department’s Officer of the Month award for October 2011. He was nominated by Lt. Tim Christensen and Sgts. Dennis Stahley and James Racky.

Just before 11 p.m. on Sept. 1, Officer Perez observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the AMF Bowling Lanes parking lot, so he decided to check it out. Inside were three subjects – and the smell of marijuana. The driver made a failed attempt to run away.

Marijuana, pills and a loaded revolver were found on the driver and in the car. The driver also is a convicted felon.

”If Officer Perez did not take the initiative and stop his vehicle to check the suspicious vehicle, this convicted felon would have continued his illegal activity,“ Lt. Christensen wrote in his nomination of Officer Perez.
