SARASOTA – Starting this month, the Ringling College of Art and Design All Ringling Television Network, or ART Network, will showcase a three-month-long exhibition on several of the organization's achievements while also giving visitors a introduction to video production and interactive activities.
The exhibit will be featured at the Richard and Barbara Basch Gallery. The showcase opens to the public on Monday, June 20, and will "demonstrate ART Network’s mission of offering immersive experiences while demystifying the process of digital content creation," according to a press release by the college. The school also advises that the public will be able to play director, actor and cinematographer in many of the activities offered at the exhibit as part of its goal of educating people about video production.
ART Network has worked with and interviewed a number of creative and prominent individuals in the first five years of its existence, including Rory Kennedy, Cheryl Hines, Roman Coppola, Sissy Spacek and Kevin Smith, Theo Wujcik and Bernice Davis. It has helped create programs for Jewish Family and Children's Services, Sarasota Opera, IMG Academy, the Sarasota Film Festival, and Ringling Underground.
In addition, students associated with the group have traveled to sites such as Miami's Art Base. Some have gone as far as Belgium to work on the Ringling College Project "Mapping a Site" and some have attended a special 5-day cruise with a conference focused on mentoring people with Down Syndrome.
Some of the features to be offered at the exhibit include:
- Multiple screens and iPads that allow the participant access to short-form programs
- The documentary ART (R)evolution, which was featured on ABC-7 in 2014
- An opportunity to create original content through the Periscope app or a green screen station
- Posters and short-term works regarding the organization's accomplishments
- A picture album and "guestbook" allowing responses to the exhibition
The exhibition will run until Wednesday, Sept. 7. The Richard and Barbara Basch Gallery's hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gallery is located at 2363 Old Bradenton Road, on the ground floor of the college's Academic Center building. For more information, go to
