BRADENTON - The Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society is inviting artists to a special juried art exhibition in January, ArtCenter Manatee. Running from January 12 to Feburary 19, the show will have its opening reception on January 14 from 5-7 p.m.
Artists will be able to submit up to two paintings for the exhibition, with "generous" cash prizes offered as rewards. Entry fees are $20 per painting for members/$30 for non-members (annual membership is $35). The deadline for submitting artwork is January 9, between 10 a.m. and noon.
Diane Shelly, who has served as curator for more than 150 art exhibitions and currently chairs the Manatee County Public Art Advisory Board, will be the event's juror. In a statement, Shelly said she believes an ”Award winning work should show innovation, demonstrate a new way of looking at the subject and should engage the audience. Of course, it is also critical that the artist have a command and mastery of design principles and technique."
