Arts and Entertainment American Roots Music Hits Ace's Three Times This Weekend

Posted

BRADENTON — This weekend, Ace's Live Music hosts three wildly different bands that have one thing in common: blasting out American roots music with raw heart and talent.

On Friday night, Thomas Wynn & The Believers will showcase what they call "a combination of blistering rock and southern soul," with heavy influences in classic rock n' roll bands such as The Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Pink Floyd. TW&TB will start at 9 p.m.; cover is $10.

Saturday, riveting southern blues in the form of DieDra & The Ruff Pro Band will take the stage. Virginia native DieDra's fiery vocals, along with husband Keithen Ruff on lead guittar, Alaina Sims on bass and Ezra Williams comprise the band. The band starts at 9 p.m.; cover is $5

A different kind of blues - one fused with big band swing - will be featured on Sunday when The Swingin' Harpoon Blues Band lights up the stage. Harmonica virtuoso and band leader Mike Lanigan will entertain audiences with sing-along numbers, and in addition to the band's original pieces, audience members can also expect to hear covers of vintage swing and blues music. The Swingin' Harpoon starts swinging at 5 p.m. with no cover charge.

Ace's is located at 4343 Palma Sola Blvd in Bradenton. More information can be found at its website.
