BRADENTON — Independence Day is upon us and there are plenty of places to see fireworks tonight from the island to the big show over the green bridge, where there will be much happening on both sides of the river.

The Palmetto 4th of July spectacular returns this year with its biggest show ever. Before the fireworks over the Green Bridge, music fans can hear a live concert featuring country music stars Craig Campbell (5 p.m.) and Rodney Atkins (7 p.m.) at Sutton Park, located at 6th Street West and 10th Avenue West in Palmetto.

The event will feature a "kids' zone" and vendor booths. Attendees are then invited to watch the fireworks from the Historic Green Bridge Fishing Pier on the Manatee River at 9 p.m.

The fireworks will also be viewable from the Bradenton Riverwalk.

Admission for the concert is a $5 cash donation at gate or a donation five food cans; it is free for children age 11 and younger. There is no charge for the fireworks show.

The Chiles Restaurant Group canceled the annual Beach House fireworks because of birds nesting on the north end of the restaurant's Bradenton Beach property. They will, however, have their 29th annual show at the Sandbar at 8 p.m. tonight. The Sandbar is located at 100 Spring Ave., Anna Maria, FL.
