BRADENTON -- Two annual festivals and Johnny Cash hit the Bradenton area this weekend. The always popular, family friendly Cortez Fishing Festival and the increasingly popular, 21 and-up Beer Festival come bearing live music, good food, and of course, lots of beer. Head south to north Sarasota and see an impressive Johnny Cash tribute at the Classic Car Museum. Leave your house thirsty – no hungry – no both, it’s time for a Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!

The Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival is back to fill Cortez Village with the smells of fried seafood, and bumper to bumper traffic. The festival is never hard to find. Wander into the village somewhere between 119th street and the bridge and follow the good sounds and smells.
The proceeds from the festival benefit the F.I.S.H. Preserve. This year is the 30th annual festival and will take place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. As always, there will be live music, real Florida seafood, arts and museum displays, and other family fun activities. Admission is $3, kids under 12 get in free.
See the event webpage for parking information and music line ups.

This weekend, another annual festival is taking place in Bradenton. The fifth annual Bradenton Beer Festival will take over Main Street Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. A $30 ticket will get you free beer and food samples from local breweries, craft breweries from around the U.S. and food from 15 different vendors from around the region.
Some of the local breweries appearing at the festival are Little Giant, Darwin’s on 4th, Sarasota Brewing Co., Cigar City, Swamp Head, Saint Somewhere and the Tampa Bay Brewing Co.
If you don’t plan on trying all the beer, you can buy a food ticket for half the price. The food at the festival is as much of an attraction as the beer. Tickets and the menu are available online.
