BRADENTON -- Independence Day came and went as expected, but hopefully you didn’t get your fill of barbeque and fun times, as the weekend approaches yet again. Take some time away from cleaning up after the guests and relatives who were in town for the holiday. Give yourself the opportunity to enjoy fine art and tasty barbeque during ArtWalk. Kick back, relax, and enjoy the sounds of local music from Kettle of Fish. This weekend is packed with art, local music, and of course, great food. So make some room for your second helping of barbeque, prepare your taste in art and music, and grab your Marauders’ hat, because it is time for another Weekend Adventure in Bradenton!
Take this opportunity to experience the Village of the Arts in Bradenton during Artwalk this Friday, July 6, starting at 5:30 p.m. In addition to the normal slate of gallery showing, there is another special ArtWalk Summer BBQ at Sweet’s Bakehouse, where an amazing variety of from scratch dishes will be served to guests who attend. There will be pulled pork, BBQ chicken drummets, black bean burgers, grilled corn, and baked beans, just to give you a taste. Prepare to soak in the artistic atmosphere with a plate of your favorite Independence Day food. Bring an appetite as this event is all you care to eat for a low price of only $10 for adults, and $5 for the little ones.
Get out of the house and support the local band Kettle of Fish, as they perform this Saturday, July 7, at 9 p.m. The venue for this live music event will be at Ace’s, and Kettle of Fish plan to showcase their original music as well as a few cover songs. This unique band caters to all tastes across the musical spectrum, as they work to mix smooth soul melodies with blues and rock n roll. Fans of the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Otis Redding, and Stevie Wonder -- just to name a few -- are sure to love the sounds of the Kettle of Fish. Be sure to catch this band before they hit it big, which seems inevitable based on their growing following.
Your Bradenton Marauders will make their way home this Sunday, July 8, for a two-game set against the St. Lucie Mets. Be sure to make it out to McKechnie Field to support the team as they fight to improve their second-half record. This is also a great opportunity to spend time with the kids, as the Marauders host the ”Bob Evans Sunday Funday“ promotion. Every child 13 and under receives a free meal voucher at the gates, thanks to Bob Evans. After the game, let your kid feel like a professional as they run the bases of the McKechnie diamond.
There is something for everyone this weekend here in Bradenton!
