Barbara Hassell, 87, gained her wings on November 19, 2023. She was born in New York City, NY, to Herman & Florence Hassell.
Although she was known for her strong opinions and stubbornness, she will be best remembered for her fierce devotion and love for her family.
All of Barbara's activities involved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Indian Guides, as well as attending school functions, performances, and graduations. Also, she was very involved her Church, volunteering where needed, including an "usherette" at Mass.

Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Herman & Florence Hassell; sister, Florence Hassell; brother, Terrence Hassell; sisters-in-law, Susan & Donna Hassell, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Curran. She is survived by her children, Lorraine Downs (Joseph) of Bradenton; James Curran of Umatilla; Florence Saldana (Vince) of Bradenton; and John Curran (Mara) of Bradenton. She leaves behind twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter. Also, she will be missed by her brother, Gerald Hassell of Bradenton; Daniel Hassell of Titusville, and sister-in-law, Helen Hassell of Bradenton along with many nieces & nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held 9:30 AM, Monday, December 4, 2023, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 2850 75th St W, Bradenton. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 43rd Street Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church (sspeterandpaul.org) or to Tidewell Hospice (Tidewellhospice.com).
