MANATEE--The Board of County Commissioners will welcome its two newest members at Tuesday’s regular meeting at county chambers. Recently elected Robin DiSabatino (District 4) and Michael Gallen (District 2) will be sworn in along with returning board member Carol Whitmore (District 6). Mr. Gallen will have the honor of having his father Circuit Court Judge Thomas Gallen administer his oath.

In addition to the consent agenda, the BCC will hear an update on the Economic Development Program and Public Works will present its annual report for the department for fiscal year 2009-10.
The Board will get an update on the status of the Fort Hamer Bridge Project by design engineer URS Corporation scheduled as a time certain item on the agenda at 1:30 p.m. The Fort Hamer Bridge crossing of the Manatee River is a priority project in the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization's Financially Feasible 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan, which will also be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting beginning at 2 p.m.
When constructed, the Fort Hamer Bridge will have access provided via two existing connector roadways: Upper Manatee River Road from the south and Fort Hamer Road from the north. Upper Manatee River Road connects the proposed bridge to SR 64 and Rye Road. Fort Hamer Road connects the proposed bridge to US 301 and CR 675.
