Posted
BRADENTON – On the eve of the Bradenton Blues Festival, Bradenton's Riverwalk Park will play host to a special concert to whet the appetite of blues lovers. This Friday, the Blues Appetizer Concert will feature R.J. Howson and Betty Fox, who will take the same stage that eight other performers will share later in the weekend.

R.J. Howson is a fiery blues rocker who made his name playing in Chicago, frequently performing at Buddy Guy's Legends Club, Rosa's Lounge, Kingston Mines, and other staples of the Chicago blues scene, as well as throughout the Midwest. The singer-songwriter is now a resident of Bradenton Beach, and has toured extensively through Florida.

Southern blues/soul singer Betty Fox and her band–featuring Kid Royal on guitar, Barry Williams on bass, and Sam Farmer on drums–are the Suncoast Blues Society's 2015 representative. The quartet have played multiple music festivals and were a top-8 finalist in the International Blues Challenge, which consisted of 150 contestants.

The 6-9 p.m. show will take place at the Riverwalk Pavillion, located at 452 3rd Avenue West.
