CALL TO ORDER

CITIZEN’S COMMENTS
  • About thirty people from the development Water League showed up to oppose a bridge from Fort Hamer to Bradenton.  
  • Each person furnished testimony to their spokesman Tome Davidson.
  • There are 615 property owners that have concerns about the bridge as close as 80 ft to their homes
  • Commissioners told them that the bridge is pretty much a sure thing but made some suggestions on how they could work together to come up with a compromise

CONSENT AGENDA (unanimously approved)
  • Comprehensive Plan Amendment Robinson Farms PA10-02 -- pulled for discussion
  • Budget Resolution Amendment B-10-050 for the jail medical services -- pulled for discussion

AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS/ PROCLAMATION
  • Employee of the Month – Cassandra Alston, Eligibility Intake Technician, Community Services Department
  • Retirement Awards:
  • Cyrous Zomorodi, Project Engineer Manager, 20 years of service
  • Jack Donaghy, Public Works Maintenance Supervisor, 29 years of service
  • Tom Gow, Lieutenant, Emergency Medical Services, 29 years of service
  • John Wilson, EMS Logistics Officer, 32 years of service
  • 2010 FPZA Outstanding Public Service Award – Recognize Planning Department for receiving award for the post disaster re-development plan form the Florida Planning and Zoning Association

Community Services Director – approved unanimously
  • Board confirmed appointment of Brenda Rogers

Construction Trades Board – approved unanimously

  • Reappointed Larry Rizenthaler

Early Learning Coalition – approved unanimously

  • Appointed one member

Animal Services Advisory Board – approved unanimously

  • Reappointed two members and appointed three

No Parking Ordinance 10-49 approved unanimously

  • Board approved the creation of an additional no stopping, standing or parking zone to include Greenville Boulevard and Sugar Mill Drive

Riva Trace Updated Access Management Plan – approved unanimously

  • There was an issue of a small piece of land obstruction a driveway and the board motioned to solve it

Appeal of Impact Fee Determination for Heritage Harbor – 6-1 Whitmore opposing (see full story)

  • Wanted a special impact fee rate for their new commercial development

Mymanatee.org – approved unanimously

  • Demonstration of new website

School Board Millage Rate – approved unanimously
Board did not approve of this, but the county attorney said that the school board could sue if they didn’t approve it.

Robinson Farms – 5-1 McClash opposing

  • Robinson Farms is requesting mediation for the recently denied application (full story)
  • McClash wanted their to be s stipulation that no commissioners could be present, but no one would second the motion
