MANATEE--The Board of County Commissioners held its regular meeting Tuesday morning in county chambers. In addition to the consent agenda, the BCC approved a reduced assessment for a dozen property owners in Bra-Win Palms for the Canal Dredging Project. The meeting’s results follow:

Heartland Regional Transportation Authority – Presentation by Fred Busack - Mr. Busack's presentation advocated Manatee County becoming a part of a regional transportation authority to expedite and coordinate business through Port Manatee and the county. The issue will be brought up at a future Port Authority meeting according to Commissioner Whitmore for further discussion.

Clerk’s Consent Calendar: UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED except for Items 18 and 20 which were approved 6-1 with Commissioner DiSabatino casting the nay vote.

  

ATTORNEY

8. Eminent Domain: 44st Street East to 15th Street East) – Adopt Resolutions R-11-037, th Avenue East (U.S. 41/1R-11-039, R-11-041, R-11-043, R-11-045, R-11-047, R-11-049, and R-11-051 determining public purpose and necessity, and adopt Resolutions R-11-038, R-11-040, R-11-042, R-11-044, R-11-046, R-11-048, R-11-050, and R-11-052 authorizing use of eminent domain ”quick take“ proceedings in the acquisition of certain parcels of privately owned realty, as related to the proposed improvements to 44th Avenue East Road Improvement Project.

9. Insurance – Approve renewal of the Boiler & Machinery coverage for $49,427.46, Crime coverage for $1,834.15, and allow the County Attorney or designee to execute renewal documents.

ADVERTISED PUBLIC HEARING PRESENTATION SCHEDULED 

38. 10:00 A.M. TIME CERTAIN - Bra Win Palms Canal Dredging Assessment Project - UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED by commissioners to reduce assessment on 12 lot owners in Bra Win Palms for Canal Dredging project that was not done properly. The assessment is reduced to $3437 per lot to be paid over 10 years per Public Works staff recommendation.
