BRADENTON – The City of Bradenton’s Solid Waste Division, which handles recycling citywide, has been recognized for its recent expansion.
Keep Manatee Beautiful honored the City at its annual Awards Luncheon today with the Recycling Award in the Small Business category for ”going beyond the norm to recycle goods used in the workplace or at home that otherwise would be discarded.“
The City announced a major expansion to its recycling division in July that significantly increased amount of items the City now recycles. This was done at no extra cost to City taxpayers.
Several other government agencies, local businesses, neighborhoods, organizations and residents were honored for litter cleanup and prevention, recycling and landscaping.
The Solid Waste Division is part of the Bradenton Public Works & Utilities Department.
The City of Bradenton is committed to doing all we can to make it easier for our customers to recycle,“ said Claude Tankersley, Public Works director. ”Working together, we can do our part to help Florida reach the goal of recycling 75% of our waste by 2020.
