Bradenton City Council Meeting Results: March 23, 2011

BRADENTON–The Bradenton City Council convened for its regular meeting Wednesday evening at City Hall. In addition to approving the consent agenda, the first public reading and hearing was held for the revised Form Base Codes. The meeting's results follow:

BRADENTON CITY COUNCIL  AGENDA March 23, 2011 6:00 p.m.

Mayor Poston and Councilman Gallo were absent. Councilman Roff presided over the meeting.

d) Budget Adjustment Law Enforcement.

e) Public Event - DeWayne Thomas AMC requests permission to hold ECO-FEST on Sat., April 16, 2011 on Old Main Street in conjunction with Farmers’ Market and Realize Bradenton.

f) Public Event – Bradenton Christian School requests permission to hold the PANTHER PROWL 5k RUN on Saturday, April 16, 2011, on Southern Parkway near school vicinity.

g) ROAD CLOSURE REQUEST by Old Main Street Merchants to close Old Main Street on Friday, April 29, 2011 from 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. for safe passage for patrons of the DeSoto Ball to be held in the auditorium.

h) Public Event – Care Net Manasota Pregnancy Center requests permission to hold the WALK FOR LIFE 2011 on Sat., May 7, 2011 to include a pancake feed in Rossi Park.

i) Public Event – The Arthritis Foundation requests permission to hold the ”BONE“ APPÆ’TIT COCKTAIL PARTY on Friday, May 13, 2011, on Old Main Street to raise funds to fight arthritis.

j) Public Event – Jetski Junkies USA requests permission to hold SEADOOFORUM & PWCMUSCLE MEET & GREET on Sunday, May 15, 2011, on Palma Sola Causeway.

a) FIRST READING OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE 2929/TC    PUBLIC HEARING AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BRADENTON, FLORIDA, MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS OF FACT; PROVIDING FOR AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF BRADENTON COMPREHENSIVE PLAN (LARGE SCALE ACTIVITY CP.10.0029) PROVIDING FOR TEXT AMENDMENTS RE-ESTABLISHING THE LEVEL OF SERVICE STANDARDS FOR SCHOOLS IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS FACILITY AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS ELEMENTS, PROVIDING FOR CONSISTANCY WITH THE STATE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; PROVIDING FOR APPLICABILITY; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRADENTON, FLORIDA, APPROVING HOUSING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PEOPLE WITH AIDS (HOPWA) GRANTEE RE-DESIGNATION AGREEMENT.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED

8. NEW BUSINESS BY DEPARTMENT HEADS, CITY ATTORNEY AND COUNCIL:

Carl Callahan: One Stop Film Commission Application

Elliott Falcione, Director Manatee County Convention and Visitors Bureau spoke about the application which will expedite the permitting process for filmmakers who want to film in Bradenton and Manatee County.

10. COUNCIL REPORTS:

Councilwoman Barnebey spoke about the upcoming ”Diva Derby“ event this Saturday. She also said it was an honor to participate in the state’s Women’s Hall of Fame ceremony Tuesday in Tallahassee and have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem.

 

Councilman Roff suggested a review of policy regarding downtown festivals at a future workshop.

 

Councilman Byrd spoke about the upcoming fundraising event ”Ribfest“ April 8-10.
