City of Bradenton
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Twenty-eight Florida municipal officials representing all re?gions of the state recently trav?eled to Washington, D.C., for the fall 2015 Federal Action Strike Team (FAST) Fly-in to advocate for such issues as a long-term federal transporta?tion bill, closing the online sales tax loophole, improving the FEMA public assistance process, protecting municipal bonds and regulating the so?ber home industry.
Bradenton Ward 3 Councilman Patrick Roff, Bradenton’s Flori?da League of Cities repre?sentative (pictured below in second row, far right), was in attend?ance. His trip to Washington was paid for by the Manasota League of Cities.
The primary purpose of FAST is to establish proactive and reac?tive communications with the Florida congressional delegation in support of federal municipal policy. The committee takes its di?rection from League resolutions and the National League of Cit?ies policy priorities, as well as from the officers and board of the League.
