BRADENTON – A new season for the Bradenton Farmers' market is set to begin on Saturday, October 3. Organized by non-profit Realize Bradenton, previous popular market activities such as live music and "Chef at the Market" will be featured as well as new activities such as market yoga with instructor Jessi Smith, all in a family-friendly atmosphere.
"Chef at the Market" will be hosted by various local chefs, who will have cooking demonstrations with locally grown foods. Sugar Cubed Bakery's Chef Dana Johnson will be featured on the market's opening day, and will begin his demonstration at 10 a.m.
Jessi Smith's 9 a.m. market yoga sessions is for beginners and experts of all ages. People interested in attending the sessions are advised to bring water and a yoga mat. A donation of $10 is suggested.
Realize Bradenton's executive director, Johnette Isham, said in a statement that the market will now accept EBT cards under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The cards can now be used for buying produce and other base foods such as bread and cheese.
"This is right on track with the market's mission to enhance our community’s quality of life. We invite our neighbors to shop with us for wholesome, healthy foods," said Isham.
The Farmers' Market will be located on Old Main Street, between Manatee Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West. Parking for the event is free, and leashed dogs are welcome.
