Bradenton Gladiators Making a Difference This Holiday Season

Posted

BRADENTON--The Bradenton Gladiators football team has launched its ”Gladiators Care Program“ for the holiday season. Last week, the team delivered complete Thanksgiving meals to several families in Manatee County and will do the same with Christmas gifts throughout December.

”We are extremely excited about the development of this new program”, said Bradenton Gladiators President Edrick Sweeting. ”This program will allow the Gladiators to develop a true connection with the families we are helping.“

Each year, the Gladiators Care Program will select a qualifying family in need. This year’s recipient is the Lilly family in Bradenton. Ms. Lilly is employed at the Grasshopper Academy a 24-hour quality childcare service for children from one month to 11 years old.

On the day before Thanksgiving, the Lilly family was delivered a complete meal including turkey, ham and all of the fixings. In addition, they received other food items to help throughout the holiday season. ”I was overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of the Gladiators,“ Ms. Lilly said. ”I want to thank them for making this Thanksgiving so wonderful. I feel blessed.“

The Bradenton Gladiators, Inc. is a federal non-profit 501(c) 3 tax exempt organization that provides community service to Manatee County through minor league football. Since its inception, the organization has given out educational awards and scholarships, thousands of school supplies and toys for underprivileged children; sponsored football camps and clinics, helped build a playground for community kids and provided food to families during the holidays.

The Gladiators play in the Florida Football Alliance which begins its regular season January 22, 2011.
