On March 7, Officer Clark observed a vehicle repeatedly attempting to enter the exit gate at an apartment complex. When he approached the vehicle it sped away. He trailed the vehicle to a residential neighborhood and made contact with the driver, who was driving on a suspended license – and the car smelled of marijuana. The driver was arrested and confiscated from his vehicle were 218 grams of marijuana, $2,920 and a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
On March 3, Officer Clark conducted a traffic stop where the driver fled on foot. Officer Clark gave chase, apprehending the suspect a few blocks later. The suspect admitted that he ran because he had marijuana in the car as well as a suspended license. While Officer Clark searched the path of pursuit for the suspect’s phone, he also found a loaded semi-automatic .40 caliber pistol. The suspect, a four-time convicted felon, admitted it was his.
On Feb. 20, Officer Clark was the backup officer on a burglary call and was the take-down officer on a felony stop of the suspect vehicle, leading to the recovery of stolen property as well as a semi-automatic .380 pistol and ammunition. Four suspects were arrested. Officer Clark assisted with the search of the vehicle and located the loaded magazine for the pistol.
”Each of these cases indicates a proactive approach, keen observational skills and successful interviewing techniques,“ Lt. Cramer wrote in his recommendation of Officer Clark for the award. ”They also have been high-risk situations. Officer Clark’s performance in each has been exemplary. He seems to be always looking for activity in his zone and his stats indicate this: (he’s) leading the zone in arrests for this year to date.“
Officer Clark has been with the Bradenton Police Department since Feb. 2010.
