Buchanan Wins Landslide Victory over Golden in Dist. 13 U.S. House Race

Posted
BRADENTON – Vern Buchanan won a third term in congress, this time by the widest margin in the seat’s history getting nearly 71 percent of the vote over former Bradenton City Council member James Golden. Buchanan, who narrowly won a first-term victory over Christine Jennings by only 369 votes, defeated Jennings by a wider margin in 2008 and has now firmly entrenched himself in the long-time Republican dominated seat. Buchanan bucked the GOP on offshore drilling, winning the support of many moderates and independents and has voted with a fairly populist bend that bodes well for his continued success in the district.
