Business and Financial Allegiant Adds Service to Richmond at PIE

Posted

BRADENTON — Allegiant debuted its St. Pete/Clearwater to Richmond, VA flights last week, as the discount airline continues to expand service in the Tampa Bay region.

The new flights become Richmond’s first non-stop travel option to Tampa Bay, while giving local residents here yet another direct, small market option. Since Allegiant’s debut in at the airport in 2006, service has grown to more than 40 cities across the country.

“We’re excited to begin service in Richmond and become locals’ first ultra-low-cost travel option to Florida,” said Jude Bricker, Allegiant Travel Company senior vice president of planning. “As we prepare to celebrate 10 years in Florida this May, we’re pleased to add service from Richmond and share our brand of affordable and convenient travel.”

The new service operates twice weekly between Richmond International Airport (RIC) and St. Pete/Clearwater International Airport (PIE). Flight days, times and ticket booking can be found only at www.Allegiant.com.

“Thanks to Allegiant, convenient access from Richmond to the Tampa Bay area becomes a reality today,” said Jon E. Mathiasen, AAE, president and CEO, Capital Region Airport Commission. “Before today, the Tampa Bay area had been one of our most-demanded destinations without non-stop flights. But now, via Allegiant, you can fly non-stop from Richmond to St. Pete / Clearwater and enjoy a vacation on Florida’s Gulf Coast. We welcome Allegiant to Richmond International Airport (RIC) and wish the inaugural travelers a wonderful, sunny weekend and the airline many years of success in Virginia’s Capital Region.”
