LAKELAND – The Bradenton Marauders, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, snapped the longest losing skid in the team’s short history Tuesday, clubbing the Lakeland Flying Tigers 9-0 at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Marauders got off to a hot start, posting five runs on Trevor Feeney in the first inning.  Robbie Grossman began everything with a single off the pitcher.  Two batters later Ramon Cabrera walked in front of an Aaron Baker RBI single.  Elevys Gonzalez followed that with a two run double for a 3-0 advantage.

Bradenton was not content with just three, however, driving home two more on RBI hits from Calvin Anderson and Adalberto Santos. That made it 5-0.  Bradenton batted around in the first.

The offense continued to roll in the third when Anderson came up with his second of four hits on the night.  The single drove home Baker, who had led off with a double.  The lead increased to 6-0.

Homeruns took over from there.  Jarek Cunningham blasted his 10th of the year in the fourth inning, accomplishing the feat two months before a Marauder hit 10 last season.  Anderson answered Cunningham’s blast with his seventh of the year in the fifth.  The solo shot left Joker Marchant Stadium, exiting over the outfield wall, lawn seating hill and two picnic pavilions.  The solo shot made it 9-0.

The Marauders’ pitching took it from there. Brett Lorin, Eliecer Navarro and Jason Erickson combined for a two-hit shutout. Lorin carried a no hitter to the fifth inning, losing it on a liner by Corey Jones, just out of the reach of the shortstop Bengie Gonzalez.

The win marks the first time the Marauders have scored nine runs in a win since April 24th in a 12-6 win over St. Lucie. It’s the seventh time they’ve scored nine runs this season. The win goes to Lorin, his second, and the loss to Feeney, his fifth.

The Marauders and Flying Tigers conclude their series in Lakeland Wednesday at 7pm.Kyle McPherson throws against a pitcher still TBD for the Flying Tigers.  Radio coverage starts at 6:45 on 1280-AM WTMY.  For more information log onto BradentonMarauders.com.
