Posted
BRADENTON – The evolving nature of public education – charter schools, virtual courses online and traditional public schools that offer International Baccalaureate programs and other specialized academic options – will be the topic of discussion when the Manatee County School District hosts its ”3rd Annual Town Hall Meeting on Education“ on Thursday, December 1, 2011, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the beautiful new Davis Theater at Manatee High.

Admission is free and the public is invited. In addition to a panel discussion with education and legislative experts, there will be an audience question and answer session with panel members.

Confirmed panelists include State Representative Jim Boyd; Jim Hamilton of the Tallahassee lobbying firm Mixon & Associates; Manatee Education Association President Pat Barber; Christine Sket, a Manatee County parent and educational advocate with Fund Education Now; and Manatee County Schools Superintendent Dr. Tim McGonegal.

”This Town Hall is a tremendous opportunity for parents, students and our community to learn about, and explore the different educational options that are shaping our future,“ Dr. McGonegal said. ”I strongly encourage the community to attend and participate.“
