City seeking applicants for Affordable Housing Advisory Committee

The City of Bradenton is taking applications for three members for its State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.

Membership is open to all interested applicants, but preference will be given to applicants representing the following areas:

  • One citizen who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing.
  • One citizen who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing.
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing.
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing.
  • One citizen who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing.

The purpose of this committee is to provide public input into the development of the City’s affordable housing incentive strategies. The committee will also help the City develop its Local Housing Assistance Plan for the State Housing initiatives Partnership program. Committee members come from different backgrounds, but they all should have some experience with affordable housing, either from a professional standpoint or as an advocate.

Committee members will be appointed by the Mayor and approved by Bradenton City Council to serve two years. The submission deadline for applications is April 30.

Applications may be obtained from the City of Bradenton’s website at www.cityofbradenton.com under the City Boards section or from Kelly Beyerlein (Kelly.beyerlein@cityofbradenton.com or 941-932-9450) in the Mayor’s office.

Applicants need to include a resume with their completed application.
