Colin A. Smith Jr.

Colin A. Smith, Jr., 90, of Bradenton, passed away on April 15, 2023, two months from his ninety-first birthday.

Born in Denver, CO to Colin and Hazel (Gray) Smith, he moved with his parents to the Chicago area when he was six. He made some life-long friends and attended Oak Park-River Forest High School. After graduating from the University of Colorado (B.S. Business), he served two years in the Army, mostly assigned to the Eighteenth Airborne Corps. Colin made his career in market research and new product development with consumer goods and industrial companies. He took pride in seeing the results of his work sometimes even decades later. He married his true love, JoAnn (nee Lingo) in 1964, and together they had two boys, David and Colin, III (deceased).

He is survived by JoAnn, David (Rashana) and an amazing granddaughter, Ripley.

Before moving to Bradenton, FL, Colin and JoAnn retired to New Mexico where they enjoyed traveling, the food, and friends from various cultures. He enjoyed skiing, playing golf, and fishing. Colin served as a member of the Rio Rancho Planning and Zoning Commission, president of his Kiwanis club, and was a Deacon in his Presbyterian church.

The family wishes to thank Tidwell Hospice for their loving care given to Colin and guidance to his family. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM, Friday, April 28, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church,1402 Manatee Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34205 with a reception to follow the service at the church. Brown & Sons Funeral Homes & Crematory 26th Street Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
