Community Florida House Approves $690 Million in Tax Cuts

Posted

TALLAHASSEE — The Florida House approved a $673 million tax-cut package proposed by Gov. Rick Scott, and added an additional $17 million to the proposal on Tuesday.

The current proposal requests tax reductions for college textbooks, commercial real estate leases, TV bills, and a cut of $470 million in communications services cut, which he proposed in January.

Last year, Florida legislatures passed $500 million in tax and fee cuts.

Senate support of the package does not yet appear to be set in stone, and may disagree with the amount of taxes reduced by the proposal as well as which specific taxes should be reduced. Senate President Andy Rardiner, R-Orlando, did suggest on Tuesday support of more tax cuts for the state in general.
