BRADENTON — A spat of high-profile confrontations between police officers and young African American males has brought the emotional and sometimes divisive issue to the forefront of community discussion. In an effort to facilitate productive dialogue, the Manatee League of Women Voters will host a Jan. 12 panel discussion including both law enforcement and community leaders.

LWV Hot Topic programs are held at the Bradenton Woman’s Club, 1705 Manatee Ave. W., from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. Doors open at 11:30 am for a light lunch ($5 donation) and social time. For more information call 729-9248.
