BRADENTON — TreeUmph! Adventure Course, Southwest Florida’s first treetop obstacle course, honored their commitment to the youth of our community by providing a complimentary day of fun and learning for Harvest House Transitional Centers on Sunday, February 22, 2015. Over 40 high school and middle school students plus five deputies from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office participated in the adventure course together, where they learned the value of teamwork, perseverance, problem resolution and the ability to overcome fear. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office regularly teams up with Harvest House groups for special events to take a proactive approach in forming relationships with local at-risk youth.
“Our courses were designed to help build confidence and encourage teamwork for people of any age and walk of life,” said Kathy Corr, co-owner of TreeUmph! Adventure Course. “We’re excited to welcome the children of the Harvest Transitional Centers to experience all the fun challenges that make TreeUmph! the ultimate outdoor adventure destination!”
Harvest House Transitional Centers is a local nonprofit organization that provides permanent supportive, transitional and emergency housing for families, and affordable, residential drug and alcohol treatment for individuals. Each individual and family in Harvest House is assigned a case manager to assist them during the transition into their new journey. Educational courses, including addiction education, mental health groups, life & employability skills, anger management, parenting development, and many more are accessible to each participant. The mission of Harvest House is to facilitate an environment full of hope that gives individuals and families an opportunity to break the cycle of homelessness and addiction as they rebuild their lives.
“Many of the children in our programs have never had the opportunity to experience their own strength and bravery – they often live and react in fear,” said Katie Close, Youth Director at Harvest House Transitional Centers. “Spending the day at TreeUmph! Adventure Course gave the children of Harvest House a new way to face their fears and learn how to positively overcome them with the support from others. We are so thankful to the people at TreeUmph! for making this special event possible.”
TreeUmph! Adventure Course continually strives to deepen its relationship with charitable organizations and strengthen its bond with the local community by hosting quarterly events. For more information, please visit TreeUmph.com or call 941-322-2130 or toll-free 855-322-2130.
