LAKEWOOD RANCH – With the recent wave of mass violence using guns, including those with high capacity clips, do we need more gun regulation, or is arming more citizens the answer?
On Monday, January 11 speakers will share their information and viewpoints, including a discussion of current bills in the legislature that would allow open carry and campus carry, at a League of Women Voters of Manatee County "Hot Topic" discussion program.
Scheduled speakers include Patricia Brigham, Gun Safety Committee chair, John D'Alusio, Second Amendment advocate; and Bradenton Police Chief Michael Radzilowski.
"What we hope to accomplish," said Rosalie Shaffer, president of the LWVMC, "is to get all the information out and see where there are areas of agreement that could reduce gun violence."
Hot Topic programs are held at the
Bradenton Woman’s Club, 1705 Manatee Avenue West, from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. Doors open at 11:30 am for a light lunch buffet ($5 donation) and social time. Open to the public; reservations are not required. For more information call 729-9248.
