There must be something in the water! Windsor Oaks of Bradenton recently held a combined centenarian celebration for two spectacular ladies. Mrs. Peg turned 100 on the 3rd of June, and Mrs. Dorothy, who will be 101 on June 26 th , celebrated the beauty of the century mark.
Mrs. Peg can and will talk to you about current events as she watches the world news everyday and reads the newspaper. Once she is done with the paper, she will walk across to the memory care house and bring the paper to a lady named Mrs. Vivian who used to sit with her. Mrs. Peg is remarkably compassionate and truly cares about her friends and family. She will tell you that she did not mean to get this old, but somehow it happened. She generally does not like a big fuss made about her but she was genuinely happy to attend her party. She actually had 8 people fly in from all over the world to attend her 100th birthday.
Mrs. Peg is very independent and enjoys her time alone to reflect on life but you best believe she doesn’t miss out on bingo and you will always find her at Wheel-of-Fortune solving puzzles hosted at the community. When asked if she wants to exercise she will tell you emphatically, ”I think at 100 I’ve done enough exercising!“
Mrs. Dorothy is an energetic lady who will soon be 101. She enjoys painting, sewing, sunsets and decorating. In her younger days she traveled the world. She loves dancing, people and beautiful music. You can be sure to see her outside in the garden feeding the squirrels daily. She says and truly believes, ”the Windsor Oaks garden is the most beautiful place on earth.“
Mrs. Dorothy still sews baby blankets to donate to local shelters and hospitals. She truly is an extraordinary lady. Her zest for life is contagious and, would you believe, she still loves to wear high heels with a smile through it all!
