County accepting applications for board

Posted

The county has four openings on the Construction Trades Board, a citizens advisory committee.

In a press release on Friday, the county said the board makes recommendations to the County Commission on the licensing of contractors and disciplines anyone who has violated county ordinances related to contractor work.

The first seat is open to a registered or state-certified commercial pool contractor with at least five years of experience. A second seat is open to anyone who is an active and registered or state-certified mechanical contractor or Class ”A“ air conditioning contractor with at least five years of experience.

Two seats are open to anyone who has never been a member of or a practitioner of a profession regulated by the board or a member of any closely related profession. These applicants may not hold an active contractor’s license in any field.

All applicants must either live in or own a business in Manatee County. The group meets on an as-needed basis on the second Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m. in the first-floor chambers of Manatee County Administrative Center, 1112 Manatee Ave. W.

Applications are due March 12 and may be found online.
