County committee seeks two to fill seats

Posted

BRADENTON – The committee that advises the County Commission on affordable housing has two openings, the county said in a press release.

The Affordable Housing Committee is a citizens advisory committee that makes recommendations to the county commissioners on affordable housing issues. The 11-member group reviews county policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and the Manatee County Comprehensive Plan. It also makes recommendations for specific actions or initiatives to encourage affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.

The two vacant seats are available to any Manatee County resident who is either actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing or a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing. Both terms expire in 2012.

The group meets on an as-needed basis on the third Monday of the month from 3 to 5 p.m. in various downtown meeting rooms.

To apply for an advisory board seat, see the Web site.
