David Mullen presents a History of Jazz at Braden River Library April 17

Posted

The Friends of the Braden River Branch Library are pleased to welcome David Mullen to the library for a program on the History of Jazz on Saturday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m.

Featuring audio and video footage of such jazz giants as Charles Mingus, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Desmond and John Coltrane, Mullen's presentation will transport the audience back to the 1940s and 50s – the era of swing and bebop.

An alto-sax player who enjoys jamming with his fellow musicians, Mullen is a psychologist whose lifetime enjoyment of jazz led to his study of its history and people. He has delivered presentations on the subject to many local organizations and has been featured as a cruise ship guest lecturer on a number of occasions.

Seating for this free program will be available on a first come, first serve basis. No registration is necessary. Light refreshments will be served starting at 10:00 a.m.

The Friends are a support organization for Manatee County’s Braden River Branch Library. Monies raised by the Friends go toward projects and services that tax dollars alone cannot provide.

The Braden River Branch Library is located at 4915 53 Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida. For more information, please call the library at 941-727-6079.
